Idaho colleges roundup: College of Idaho?s Holt wins national title in NAIA 1,500 meters

Hillary Holt?s victory at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships made her the first individual national champion in the nearly 100-year history of College of Idaho track and field. The sophomore, from Mountain View High, defeated a field of 15 runners with a school-record time of 4 minutes, 30.10 seconds, winning the championship by 1.5 seconds over Maria Bernard of the University of British Columbia. Holt returned to the track 90 minutes later to place fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.63, earning her third outdoor All-America honor. The C of I women finished in a tie for 10th in the team standings.

C OF I BASEBALL: Lewis-Clark State eliminated the College of Idaho from the NAIA World Series in Lewiston on Saturday, as the Warriors used a three-run home run from Braxton Miller and a complete-game effort by Anthony Armanino to win 5-1. The Coyotes finished the season 41-21, while Lewis-Clark State (42-13) will play Monday at 1 p.m. against LSU Shreveport, who lost 2-1 to Rogers State.
