George Zimmerman's brother says Twitter rant a "mistake"

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - The brother of George Zimmerman, the man charged in the 2012 shooting death of unarmed black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, said on Wednesday he was wrong to tweet a series of racially charged comments about his brother's case.
"I made a mistake," Robert Zimmerman Jr. said during an appearance on CNN's Piers Morgan Live. "It unfortunately may not have helped George."
George Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder for killing Martin, who was 17, after an altercation in a residential neighborhood in Sanford, Florida.
Prosecutors contend George Zimmerman, then a neighborhood watch captain, racially profiled Martin, then pursued and shot him while Martin was returning from a convenience store to a townhouse where he was staying with his father.
Robert Zimmerman this week posted side-by-side photos of Martin and one of two teenagers arrested last week in a fatal shooting of a 13-month-old boy as his mother was pushing his stroller down the street in a coastal Georgia town.
The separate photos showed Martin and the teenager posing while making an obscene gesture.
Robert Zimmerman wrote in a tweet, "a picture is worth a thousand words ... any questions?" In another tweet, he said, "Lib media shld ask if what these2 black teens did 2 a woman&baby is the reason ppl think blacks mightB risky."
Morgan, in his interview with Zimmerman, called the tweets "incendiary" and "bordering on outright racism."
"I understand this was controversial and I apologize," Robert Zimmerman said.
Mark O'Mara, George Zimmerman's lawyer, has criticized Robert Zimmerman's tweets.
George Zimmerman's trial is set to start in June.

Reports: Harvard secretly searched deans' emails
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) ? Harvard University administrators secretly searched the emails of 16 deans last fall, looking for a leak to reporters about a case of cheating, two newspapers reported.
The email accounts belonged to deans on the Administrative Board, a committee addressing the cheating, The Boston Globe and The New York Times reported, citing school officials. The deans were not warned about the email access and only one was told of the search afterward.
Harvard will not comment on personnel matters or provide additional information about the board cases that were concluded during the fall term, Michael Smith, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, said in an email Sunday. If the committee's work were compromised, Harvard College would protect the process, he said.
"Generally speaking, however, if circumstances were to arise that gave reason to believe that the Administrative Board process might have been compromised, then Harvard College would take all necessary and appropriate actions under our procedures to safeguard the integrity of that process, which is designed to protect the rights of our students to privacy and due process," he said.
Smith's office and the Harvard general counsel's office authorized the search, the Globe reported.
Harvard spokesman Jeff Neal did not specifically address the allegations but denied any routine monitoring of emails.
"Any assertion that Harvard routinely monitors emails ? for any reason ? is patently false," he said in an email.
Sharon Howell, Harvard's senior resident dean, criticized Harvard administrators and said they owed the deans an apology for failing to notify the email accountholders until after gaining access to the emails.
"They don't seem to think they've done anything wrong," she told the Globe.
Harvard University said last month that it issued academic sanctions against about 60 students who were forced to withdraw from school for a period of time in a cheating scandal that involved the final exam in a class on Congress. The school implicated as many as 125 students in the scandal when officials first addressed the issue last year.
The inquiry started after a teaching assistant in a spring semester undergraduate-level government class detected problems in the take-home test, including that students may have shared answers.

For more than ten years Qahtani, an economics professor, has been one of the most?outspoken human rights activists?in the deeply conservative country. Qahtani believes Saudis must demand their rights, and that speaking up and demanding a stronger rule of law is a moral responsibility.
In an interview with the Monitor in 2012, he compared Saudi Arabia to apartheid-era South Africa, saying, ?Our goal is to reach a situation where the regime is bound by its own law. It's a duty incumbent on us to educate people and push them forward."
Qahtani and Hamad?s trial was open to the press and the public. While they disagreed with the decision, some Saudi activists called the trial's openness a step forward.
Supporters of the activists said the trial was political motivated. When the judge sentenced Qahtani and Hamad, supporters began shouting and security officers armed with truncheons cleared the courtroom.

Moreover, one of the especially interesting items in this novel is that Herzl never actually mentions a state for the Jewish people.? In this book he proposes a social, economic structure that is unique: A cooperative society not only from the aspect of a society of men or an ?Israeli Society? but from the aspect of a cooperative business venture.
Herzl does not detail or present a final structure for his idea nevertheless there is something very interesting here.
The founders-representatives of international Jewish funds and wealthy Jewish business people would establish a stock company.? This company, which employs people, is a called reconciliation company.
What do does this mean?
The example proposed here is taken directly from the colonial history of Europe.? We are referring, for example, to the British East Indian Company formed to settle Eastern India.? This was a stock company that, in the year 1600 received from the queen of England, Elizabeth the first, a special charter granting it the exclusive trading rights in Eastern India.
This company was the major factor in the British capture of India.
The company traded, settled and also managed parts of the Indian mechanisms.
Herzl speaks of developing a similar system with slight differences.
Similar because he proposes a stock company whose purpose it was to settle an Eastern land and to establish there a thriving economy, factories and more.
However, there would be two differences.
First, there is no independent state that establishes a company to settle another country. Instead there would be appointed representatives of a people that lived for hundreds of years dispersed socially and culturally throughout the entire world.? These representatives-the wealthy business men would establish in effect a new national//social/business society by means of a completely private initiative.
However the most important point in this plan is the fact that this stock company formed by the founders is not designed to be eternally profitable for the founders.
True they are not expected to lose money.? On the contrary, Herzl emphasizes more than once the profit incentive inherent in the free market. They would not give up the profits but instead, at the right time, transfer at a fair price their shares in the national, general company that will replace the stock company
It is difficult to describe the legal standing of such a company and it is doubtful if such a model exists in the world whereby a group of citizens are associated in a socioeconomic manner and not necessarily in a national one.? It is possible however to imagine such a structure as a sort of giant cooperative open to anyone interested in joining its services.
Yes with no differences in race, creed, religion or sex.
This company would settle Palestine with the aid of the immediate recognition by Turkish Sultan who would retain control over it.
In Herzl?s literary imagination, if so, the settlement stock company would be established by benefactors and business people.? This company was meant to settle the country and cause it to flourish.

From a Business Society to an Economic Society
First of all it must be understood that Herzl?s models are neither defined nor detailed fully.? In ?Altneuland? he doesn?t present an organized plan for establishing a Jewish settlement in Palestine. He speaks in prophetic terms but it is important to stress that it is a reasoned prophesy from a value standpoint.
The stock company that would establish the Jewish society would purchase land, import agricultural equipment, cattle and plants and build railroad tracks.? It would even build housing for workers.
At this point it is possible to say that this is an example of a type of Fordistic society.? ?
By this is meant a business society that would bring in people to work for it and would give them all the necessary conditions to live in the work area and even a salary that would not be a meager one but which would enable them to purchase the products they produce and even leave a bit of profit.
But this is not what Herzl wanted.
His plan was based on the model of Ireland in the 19th century where the lord of the manor enabled his farmers to work and in the end establish a mutual cooperative that would manage the work, buy and sell and enable the farmers to profit from their labors.
And this is what Herzl wanted.
The stock company would replace the socioeconomic structure.? The citizens of Palestine would be divided into two classes. One class would be a large cooperative association called ?the new society? and it would own the shares of all of the infrastructure, the land and all property.? The second class would be everyone else living there but who did not wish to be partners in the ?new society?.
What is important to note is that those who wanted to could be accepted into the ?new society? without any consideration of religion, sex or race.? That is to say, despite the fact that this entire enterprise was meant to solve the problem of European Jewry, the society would be open to all regardless of race or religion or sex..
This is a most liberal vision without a doubt.

Regarding Free Initiative and a Good Life
And how do you integrate business with a free association of workers?
The establishing share holders need not be ?suckers? (Herzl of course, words it differently).? Not only are they not meant to lose money or be philanthropists, they are meant to profit.
And the profits will come from the enhancement of the new settlement and from the labor of the workers.
In effect this would be the model: farmers would receive free land, would farm it, improve it and earn a living from it.
The value of the land would grow due to its cultivation and the cultivation of the wilderness and this will enable the ?new society? that will inherit the stock company to obtain loans from abroad where the security would be the flourishing land.? The money obtained from these loans would be used to repay the original investors and the loans would be repaid by hard work.
Here may be seen the Herzl?s central premise: the combination of Capitalism and free enterprise with cooperative associations of workers.
We will explain.
Herzl loved the advantages of the Capitalistic system but as a son of the enlightenment movement of the 19th century he understood very well its disadvantages.
He recognized the power of Capitalism and free enterprise to create immense factories, to cultivate the wilderness and create progress.? However he did not forget the oppression of the workers, the poverty and the ignorance it could also create.
And so he tried to combine the two extremes.
Investors were invited to come, act and profit.
They could join the ?new society? or become citizens of Palestine without joining.
In the event that they wished to join the select, idealistic and lovely Zionist enterprise they could profit but within certain limits.
In the end they would sell their factories to the ?new society? at a nice profit and these factories would be transferred to the general public and for their benefit.
The cooperative associations would be found everywhere and operate for the benefit of their members.
In addition the means of communication could be either private or cooperative.

Recently we heard of a new initiative by ultra-religious youth.? When you call a specific number you hear a synopsis of the latest news supplied by the ?system? associated with this telephone.
Actually this was Herzl?s idea.
In Altneuland it would be possible to hear news over the telephone.
It was called the telephone newspaper.
And since the new settlement would be completely new and would not be built on an older infrastructure like European cities, everything there would be clean and organized.
Thus even the telephone cables would run completely underground and the telephone company would pay the ?new society? just for the rights to use the underground conduits of he infrastructure to run their cables through.
And the printed newspaper?
Indeed there would be some and one of them would represent an example for a cooperative association.
It would belong to the shareholders.
Each subscriber would become a shareholder in the newspaper and would have the responsibility, via a representative committee, for the subscriptions to the system and for establishing the style of the newspaper and its general level.
In this way the ?new society? would fight the manipulation and jingoism of the press.

And what is missing?
The problem is that there are many things missing and much that Herzl simply ignores.
Perhaps due to na?vet? or simply because he wished to present a utopian vision that could guide more practical people to realize his dream.
In any event, Herzl ignores the model of a national European country.? This is the type of country we recognize in which there is a defined territory within which resides a certain people who are the majority.? It is important to note that this is not the only model for a political organization that has arisen during the course of history.? However, this is the model that has developed in Europe over the last few hundred years and which is likely to change in the future.
It is possible to say therefore that Herzl presented a new model but that he is ignored today, for all sorts of reasons, by people today.? Thus a very important national feeling has been lost to many people.
This is how we were educated.
The Jews like most people wanted a national homeland for themselves.
Herzl also did not give much consideration to the Arabs.
In his view they would simply agree to everything, and most importantly they would be satisfied and grateful.? They would profit economically, educationally and sanitarily.? However, according to Herzl they had no political ambitions.? And since the new society as all land in the Middle East belonged to the Turkish sultan there was no need for an army.
Don?t forget, neither Egypt, Syria or Lebanon were political entities at the time.
There was no national-military danger.
And what is the conclusion?
This vision can appear extremely bold and innocent (at least from a social standpoint) however it contains many elements worthy of thought.? What is your opinion, for example about cancelling national democracies which characterizes most of the world of our times and replacing them with business companies- for the benefit of all?
Perhaps instead of being citizens we would become share holders being able to improve our lives.
Worth considering, no?

OpenPool transforms billiards with a Kinect camera controlled light show
How to make a pool table an attention-grabber on a showroom floor full of highly explosive video games? Try a couple of Kinect cameras, some projectors and a sound system. OpenPool's an open-source project that's looking to bring a little multimedia action to the world of billiards. The company had some reps on the floor of SXSW's Game Expo today, showing off the system, which, at the very least, is most probably unlikely any pool game you've played.
The system uses two Kinect cameras to detect ball movement, which in turn directs the motion of the projectors -- not entirely unlike those floor shows in malls that seem to endlessly fascinate small children. The speakers play sound effects and music in sync with the movement as well, signaling noises when balls drop into the pockets. The company is really excited at the prospect of open-sourcing here, and told us that you should probably be able to set up your own system at home for around $10,000, pool table included. For those who aren't particularly tech-savvy, the Japanese company is working on building full systems for offices and bars. Having Konami as a partner will certainly help it realize that dream. Big cat sanctuary to reopen to public after deadly lion attack
(Reuters) - The California wildlife sanctuary where an African lion attacked and killed a 24-year-old intern last week will reopen to the public on Sunday, four days after the woman's death.
The Cat Haven preserve, which has been shut since Dianna Hanson's death on Wednesday, will resume regular operations, including offering guided tours to visitors, Cat Haven officials said
Shortly before it opens its gates, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims is scheduled to brief reporters on the latest findings from the investigation.
Hanson, who was on a six-month internship at Cat Haven that began in January and had previously worked in Kenya on a wild feline reserve, will be honored on Sunday with a moment of silence at the sanctuary.
The big cat center, which is located 40 miles east of Fresno, will resume regular operations, including guided tours for visitors, Cat Haven officials said.
"It is important that we attend to (the animals') health and well-being, and we believe returning to a state of normal operations is a part of that process," Cat Haven founder Dale Anderson said in a statement.
Hanson was attacked while cleaning an empty cat enclosure.
A four-year-old male lion named Cous Cous escaped from his feeding pen, apparently by prodding open an improperly secured gate, and pounced on Hanson, fracturing her neck and killing her almost instantly, according to Fresno County Coroner David Hadden.
Sheriff's deputies later shot and killed the lion, which weighed at least 400 pounds (181 kgs), after failed efforts to coax him away from Hanson's body.
Cous Cous and his mate, Pely, were Barbary lions, a species from the region between Morocco and Egypt that is extinct in the wild. He had been handled by humans since he was weeks old.
Cat Haven, a 100-acre (40-hectare) sanctuary run by the group Project Survival and located about 40 miles east of Fresno, is still home to 29 large cats.
State and local agencies are investigating whether Cat Haven violated any safety procedures that could have safeguarded against the attack.
Anderson said the sanctuary was cooperating with the investigation.
Hanson earned a biology degree in 2011 from Western Washington University. Her family says they consider the incident a tragic accident.
"We know that first and foremost, Dianna would want the work that Cat Haven is doing to continue," her mother, Donna Hanson, said in a statement.
The Hanson family has set up a fund in Dianna's honor that will benefit her favorite charitable organizations, including Cat Haven.

Video Game Analyst Michael Pachter Announces His Next ...
Michael Pachter, renowned video game analyst, held a presentation at South by Southwest (SXSW), where he shared his predictions about the upcoming generation of video game consoles.
Images of Pachter's presentation come care of Geoff Keighley on Twitter. Among his many predictions, Pachter said that this will be the last generation of home consoles, games will cost an extra $10 than the previous generation, and he shared his lifetime sales predictions for the Wii U, PlayStation 4, and whatever Microsoft's next console will be.
Pachter believes that the Wii U will under-perform, and sell about half as many units as the Wii. For the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's next console, he is predicting that both consoles will outsell their predecessors by about 20 million units.

Cavs All-Star Irving to play through flu symptoms

CLEVELAND (AP) ? Cavaliers All-Star guard Kyrie Irving says he will play against Memphis despite having flu-like symptoms earlier in the day.
Irving missed the team's morning shootaround and was listed as doubtful for Friday's game. A flu bug has coursed its way through Cleveland's team and also sickened family members of players and coaches. However, Irving arrived at Quicken Loans Arena about 90 minutes before tipoff and told reporters he was going to play.
Irving said he began filling ill Thursday night and spent most of Friday resting.
"I went to the doctor and got myself checked out," he said. "I'm here. About 13 hours of sleep will definitely help you."
Irving was recently held out of three games to rest a hyperextended right knee, and following Wednesday's win over Utah, the 20-year-old said the injury was still bothering him. Those comments prompted coach Byron Scott to say he would consider shutting down Irving again, rather than risk him making it worse.
However, after speaking with Irving and trainer Max Benton, Scott isn't as worried.
"I don't think the knee is that big of an issue," said Scott.
Irving attempted to diffuse any apparent controversy about the status of his knee and thought the situation regarding his comments on Wednesday was a bit overblown.
"I'm fine," he said. "I'm not getting shut down. Coach Scott is not in contemplation of shutting me down. It's funny what the Internet can do for people."
This virulent flu bug has bitten the Cavs hard.
Rookies Dion Waiters and Tyler Zeller as well as Daniel Gibson and team trainer Max Benton all missed games earlier this week with the stomach virus. Waiters was in Friday's starting lineup and Scott said Gibson was available.
Zeller returned on Wednesday after being sick and losing five pounds. He and Waiters became so ill last weekend that they had to be taken to the hospital.
Scott has been leery of making any unnecessary contact with his players.
"I'm not touching their hands right now," he said. "We're doing a lot of knuckles stuff. I'm trying to stay away from them as much as possible. Hopefully, this thing will be over today or tonight. It's made its way through our team."

No. 6 Miami beats Clemson for outright ACC title
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) ? Down to its third try and last chance, Miami came through.
Kenny Kadji scored a season-high 23 points to help the sixth-ranked Hurricanes win the Atlantic Coast Conference championship outright by beating Clemson 62-49 on Saturday.
Kadji also grabbed 12 rebounds and Miami (24-6, 15-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) clinched its first outright men's basketball league title after being foiled in consecutive losses to Duke and Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes tied the school record for victories set in 2001-02, when they went 24-8, and improved to 14-1 at home in their regular-season finale.
The league championship is the second for the Hurricanes, who shared the Big East Conference title in 2000.
Clemson (13-17, 5-13) has lost six consecutive games and nine of its past 10.
After struggling on defense recently, the Hurricanes clamped down, limiting Clemson to one basket during a pivotal 9?-minute stretch to start the second half. Miami held a league opponent to 50 points or fewer for the seventh time.
When Kadji sank a 3-pointer for a 55-41 lead with 3:10 left, the Hurricanes ran upcourt grinning at each other to a deafening roar from the crowd, dressed as one in white ACC championship T-shirts. The game was the fifth sellout this year for the Hurricanes, traditional cellar-dwellers in ACC attendance.
After the final seconds ticked off, confetti rained from the ceiling.
Kadji, one of six seniors playing his final home game, went 4 for 6 from 3-point range. Fellow senior Trey McKinney Jones scored 10 points.
Sophomore guard Shane Larkin came off the bench for the first time this season and struggled early, missing his first seven shots. But he hit a pair of important 3-pointers late and finished with 11 points.
Clemson freshman Jordan Roper led the Tigers with 12 points, all in the first 5 minutes before Larkin entered the game and began to guard him.
The score was 25-all at halftime, and the Hurricanes took the lead for good with a 13-3 run to start the second half. Kadji hit consecutive baskets, the second a 3-pointer. Durand Scott then scored on back-to-back possessions for a 38-28 advantage with 11 minutes remaining.
Larkin was scoreless until he sank a 3-pointer with 8:46 left. He made another one on Miami's next possession for a 44-34 lead.
Julian Gamble's two free throws put Miami up by 13 for the first time at 51-38 with 4 minutes left.
Roper scored Clemson's first five baskets, including a pair of 3-pointers for a 12-11 lead.

Rare Fukushima tour reveals colossal cleanup effort
Journalists have been given a rare glimpse inside Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which was crippled in the 9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that hit the country two years ago. NBC News' Arata Yamamoto reports.

TOKYO ? Journalists have been given a rare glimpse inside Japan?s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, which was crippled in the 9-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that hit the country two years ago.?
The tour of the plant ahead of the March 11 anniversary ?of the disaster ? which killed nearly 19,000 people and forced about 160,000 from their homes???sheds light on the colossal effort to decommission the nuclear reactors. The process is expected to take up to 40 years.
Richard Engel goes to Japan a year after the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami to see how people live just miles away from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
Inside the facility, rows of large tanks store contaminated water used to cool the reactors. Temperatures in the plant have been kept stable ? between 59 to 95 Fahrenheit ? by continuously injecting cooling water.?
According to a briefing by plant operator TEPCO, each container holds up to 1,100 tons of water and fills up in two-and-a-half days. ?There are 930 of these tanks, and already 75 percent have been filled, according to officials. ?Although TEPCO plans to increase capacity by an additional 771,600 tons, they are running out of space.
The process is also yielding roughly 440 tons of water every day, raising the issue of what to do with the contaminated liquid. Officials hope that this water purification system will remove nuclear particles when completed.
TEPCO expects the water?s contamination levels to be reduced to low enough levels ?to release it into the ocean. It is not clear how they will be able to overcome the public discontent over this plan, however. ?For example, local fishing cooperatives are adamantly against the proposal. In February, a fish with a record level of cesium, 5,100 times the government safety standard, was found near the plant's port.
Japanese researchers unveil robots along with a robotic suit to assist workers going inside the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.
But the most important task in decommissioning the reactors is the removal of the fuel rods, a process that will begin in November. Work is already under way to build a protective cover for the rods.?
There is still no plan to remove fuel rods for the other reactor units, which are much more damaged.
Although the government's aim is to finish decommissioning the plant in 30 to 40 years, the plan also relies on ?technological advances, an assumption that presents a profound challenge ?as Japan struggles to contain this daunting nuclear crisis.

Samsung Galaxy S4 To Stick To Plastic Body To Strike Balance Between Manufacturability And ?Premium Feeling?
New reports are streaming in every other day, discussing the features and specs that are likely to be included in the Galaxy S3?s highly anticipated successor. Following the New York Times report Monday stating that the?Galaxy S4 would use ?Eye Scrolling? technology?to track users? eyes to scroll pages, a new CNET report said Tuesday that next-generation Galaxy S smartphone would stick to its plastic roots, ?despite rivals opting to use metal and other premium-feeling materials.?
?At a time when competitors are using glass, aluminum, and even higher quality plastics such as polycarbonate, Samsung has stuck to its guns with a thin, bendable plastic body? Which is why the Galaxy S4 won't stray too far from that design philosophy,??said the CNET report, citing Y.H. Lee, executive vice president of Samsung's mobile business.
Lee told CNET in an interview that the Galaxy S4 would continue with the plastic materials in order to maintain a balance between manufacturing skill and a "premium feeling" product that consumers demand.
"I think the next product has a nice balance between this," said Lee. "We listen to the market and try to accommodate."
According to the company executive, Samsung doesn?t merely focus on ?the aesthetic quality of the device,? while deciding on the materials to use for a new product, but also seriously considers how to make the manufacturing process quick and efficient at the same time.
Lee said that since the next Galaxy S smartphone would be shipped in high volumes, the device?s manufacturability and durability must be taken into consideration. She had argued that the plastic back cover used in Samsung smartphones is lighter and more durable than those of other devices in the market, ?because it's bendable and can better absorb physical impact.?
However, as Apple Insider?has noted, there could be a question as to why other smartphone makers like Apple have effectively opted for glass and aluminum form factor, apparently ditching the plastic body. The new HTC One also comes in an aluminum frame that gives it a premium look.
Russian analyst Eldar Murtazin also?said earlier this week?that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 would feature a similar plastic build like its predecessor. While, according to CNET, there have been complaints that the existing Galaxy S3 feels too "plastic-y,? it would be interesting to see how the Galaxy S4, with its plastic body, would perform against its metal counterparts to become the No. 1 ?premium? smartphone.
Meanwhile, rumors are rife that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will feature a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU, a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD Videos. The device is likely to come with 2GB RAM and storage options of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB.
The phone is expected to run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is likely to come with TouchWiz UI and Wireless charging.

Whitney Houston: FBI releases 128-page file
Whitney Houston's FBI file includes letters from fans that Houston found threatening, as well as an attempted extortion attempt that the FBI investigated.
Whitney Houston greeted former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Muhammad Ali at New York's Radio City Music Hall, where he accepted GQ's 1998 "Men of the Year" Award. Today, Ms. Houston's FBI file was released after a Freedom of Information Act request.

The 128 pages from Houston's files posted online on the FBI's website showed one fan's attention-seeking letters but did not divulge any new insights into the troubled singer's personal life.
Houston, known both for her soaring ballads and well chronicled history of drug abuse, was found dead last year in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub. She was 48. Authorities called her death an accidental drowning due to cocaine use and heart disease.
The FBI cases were opened at the height of the singer's career between 1988 and 1999. Names and several details were redacted from the files.
Among the Grammy-winning singer's FBI files, released through a Freedom of Information Act request, were love letters sent by a Vermont man, who wrote that he "might hurt someone with some crazy idea."
The file shows the FBI interviewed the man but the bureau concluded no law was broken because the man said he would have only hurt Houston's reputation by proclaiming his love publicly.
An alleged $250,000 extortion attempt was brought to the FBI's attention shortly after Houston's marriage to R&B singer Bobby Brown in 1992 and threatened to make public private information unless the "I Will Always Love You" singer paid.
Houston told the FBI in an interview that she considered the person a friend.
Houston in 1999 also received letters and recorded cassette tapes from the Netherlands which she deemed threatening, according to the files.
The sender made outrageous claims in an FBI interview that he was "President of Europe," purchased Brazil for $66 billion and helped Nelson Mandela win election in South Africa.

[CeBIT 2013] We published yesterday when MSI announced its first All-In-One AG2712 here at CeBIT and today I had the opportunity to see the 27-inch computer ?in person?. The design is quite nice with a transparent stand and a wide speaker grill that runs across the device, just below the bezel. ?Featuring THX audio, the speaker delivered a quite powerful sound when I watched the NVidia demo (check the video above) and the touch display was super responsive. The chassis is a little thick compared to other AIO that we have seen in the past 6 months, such as the super thin HP Spectre.

MSI is taking its chance at targeting gamers with this compact form factor that features laptop-grade components, such as the NVidia GeForce GTX 670MX with 3 GB?
